Student Visa

I-20 Forms and Student Visa

LEI is authorized by the United States Immigration and Naturalization Service to issue the I-20 form for those students who would like to obtain the F1 Student Visa. When applying to Language Exchange International, you will need to note on the application in 2 sections that you are interested in obtaining the F1 Visa. When turning in your completed application with all the necessary information, we will also need the following requirements to process the papers:

1. Proof of financial stability/sufficient funds while in the USA (copy of latest bank
    statement will suffice)
2. Proof of health insurance coverage while in the USA
3. Payment for course
4. If using a sponsor, a letter of support from the sponsor and the sponsor's current
    bank statement

Once all the above items have been received by the school, the school is now authorized to issue the I-20 form for that particular student. Once the student receives the I-20 form and are applying at the American Embassy in their country, they simply take the I-20 form, their passport and any other supporting documentation with them to get the F1 student visa. The prospective student will have to prove that they intend on returning to their country after their time of study in the USA. If they cannot prove that to the satisfaction of the Consular officer, their visa request will be denied. In the event a visa request is denied, the school will refund all tuition fees paid minus the registration fee, once the I-20 form is returned to the school. A refusal letter from the American Embassy is also acceptable. No refunds will be made without receipt of one of those two forms.

Students are expected to maintain their student status once the visa is issued or student status has been approved. Maintaining your status simply means you must be studying at all times. If you should stop studying for any reason, you will be out of status and your visa will be finished. Students are not authorized to work nor qualify for work until they have completed one academic year. See the Director of Admissions for special rules and regulations regarding problems with being "out of status", visa changes, work permission, etc.
