From 13 Colonies to 50
States
(Course 100)
Learn how the 13 British colonies
became the United States of America. This course also includes an
introduction to each of the 50 states. To enrich your learning experience,
we have included field trips to Jamestown, Colonial Williamsburg and
historic Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Field Trip to Philadelphia,
October 21, 2006
8:30 am – 9:00 pm
Travel via motorcoach from the
Vienna or Springfield/Franconia metro stations to Philadelphia, PA. Tour
Independence Hall, often referred to as the birthplace of our nation; see
the Liberty Bell; and the home of Betsy Ross.
Field Trip to Jamestown/Williamsburg, Saturday,

Travel via motorcoach from the
Vienna or Springfield/Franconia metro stations to Jamestown, VA. Step back
into history at the Jamestown settlement and explore beautiful Colonial
Williamsburg.
US Presidents from
Virginia
(Course 102)
Virginia has a rich historical
heritage, including being home to George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, and
several other presidents. Learn about famous US presidents
and the US presidential election process.
To enrich your learning experience, this
course includes field trips to Monticello (Jefferson’s home), and
Mount Vernon (Washington’s home).
Field Trip to Charlottesville, VA, Saturday,

Travel via motorcoach from the
Vienna or Franconia/Springfield metro to Charlottesville, VA.
Tour Monticello, the home of
Thomas Jefferson, and explore the University of Virginia founded by Thomas
Jefferson in 1819.

Field Trip to Mount Vernon,
Saturday,

10:30 am – 4:00 pm
Students meet
at Mount Vernon in Alexandria. The field trip includes a walking tour of the
mansion and grounds and lunch at the historic Mount Vernon Inn.
